OKA, the luxury artisan furniture and home store, played host to a Barkingham Palace Garden Party at their Broadway store last weekend. The event, in association with Pets Pyjamas and Billy + Margot, invited owners to bring their dogs along to the store, famed for its Georgian farmhouse showroom, resulting in lots of delighted dogs.
The event organised by Hattie Cooper, Marketing and PR Executive for OKA, proved to be something to bark about as hundreds of cheery canines got to indulge in plenty of treats on offer for the day. Hattie hoped that all the owners took away the fact "that you can plan your home around your dog and incorporate them into your designs with OKA" Dogs wandering around the store was not just an exclusive for the day or the Broadway store, Hattie points out "We welcome dogs in all of our stores all year round, all the directors of OKA have them and they are a massive part in their lives. Dogs feature heavily in our catalogues as they are important members of lots of families."
Hundreds of canines lead their owners around the homeware store as there was so much to lay their paws on. Billy + Margot's iced treats proved to be the tasty highlight for every dog that lapped up their products. Christine, from Sutton Coldfield, was there with her Spaniel Tiffany and said "I've loved bringing Tiffany along to the party today, her favourite part has definitely been her iced treat." she added "I think the Cotswolds are brilliant as is the OKA store in Broadway so I come here quite often and today has been lovely"
Lots of people and their dogs came from far and wide with another hit proving to be the doggy photo shoots that IDUZ Photography were providing. The owner of three Jack Russells, Oscar, Daisy and Boo told us "Myself and the dogs have had a superb day and I'm really pleased with this beautiful photograph of them. OKA have put on a fantastic event and it's so lovely to include your dogs in days out and do some shopping at the same time."
Other attendees at the event included Animal Practitioner, Paula Fisher-Stokes who was on hand to give out advice on her service of gentle manipulative therapy for dogs, cats and small animals. Every pooch had a hoot and to ensure all the two legged attendees enjoyed the party there was music from Julian and Nigel from www.saxandpiano.com and canapés a plenty.
The point that you can mix chic design, homely and fun was proved in a touching moment which typified the meaning of the day. With the party drawing to a close four black Labradors came bounding into a busy room and made themselves right at home in one of the stores delightful dog baskets, making not only the party a success but proving OKA know how to make dogs feel right at home.
