Proud pet owners are being urged to enter their talented pooches, clever cats and photogenic rabbits, into National Star’s first ever virtual pet show.
The charity was devastated when coronavirus meant it had to postpone a dog show planned to run at National Star in Ullenwood earlier this month.
So rather than cancel the show completely the charity, which supports young people with complex disabilities, is taking the event online, and offering all pet lovers, not just dog owners, the opportunity to showcase their animals.
It’s simple to enter your pet for the online competition, which will run on the National Star Facebook page between 19 – 29 May.
National Star Patron and charity ambassador Dr Dawn Harper, ably assisted by her own dogs Fennel and Grouse, will judge the competition. Fun pet show categories include:
Owners can enter their pet into as many categories as they like, for a minimum donation of £3 per category.
All winners will receive a highly-coveted, limited edition rosette through the post.
‘Pets have kept families entertained, provided much-needed company for those self-isolating and generally brought a smile to the faces of their owners during lockdown. What better way to thank them for their companionship and support than to enter them into this fabulous Virtual Pet Show being organised by National Star,’ said Dr Dawn Harper.
‘I cannot wait to judge the entries and to see the range of pets that are adored by families throughout Gloucestershire and beyond,’ she added.
Further details of how to enter the pet show, including the all-important terms and conditions, can be found in the events section of the National Star Facebook page or by visiting the National Star website nationalstar.org/virtualpetshow
